GordonCare for Children - Children's Clothing & Toy Fair

GordonCare for Children – Children’s Clothing and Toy Fair
1125 Nepean Highway, Highett
November 8, 2008
9AM-2PM

WHAT IS IT?

GordonCare for Children is hosting it’s very first annual children’s clothing and toy fair.  All proceeds raised will be used to help support the many programs that GordonCare for Children offers to children and families in need.

You can purchase a trestle table for a small amount of $10.00 per table.  All of the proceeds you earn from selling your items is yours to keep, unless you wish to donate these funds to GordonCare.

We have 40 trestle table stalls for people to sell their pre-loved children’s clothing, toys and accessories.  Why not support a great cause and have fun doing it all at the same time?

ENTERTAINMENT:

REPTILES:    Live reptile exhibits and shows happening throughout the day.  This entertainment has been put on by Black Snake Productions, an organization dedicated to the conservation and education of Australian wildlife.  Come along to our interactive experience with some of Australia’s most amazing creatures and learn about their habitats, what their defense mechanisms are and metamorphous in invertebrates, to name a few topics that will be covered!

CULTURE CORNER:  Anne Mbugua from the Kikuyu (African) tribe will be teaching children about where she comes from, through story telling, dancing and making music.  Children will have an opportunity to learn about certain masks that African tribes use, learn about the Kenyan Flag, dolls and different clothing.  All children will have the ability to participate in creating their own musical instrument.  Bring along a small picnic rug, if you so wish.

MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT: Come along and enjoy the entertainment provided by “Caution”.  The band consists of 5, 12 year old boys who received first place at the Langwarrin Talent Quest in the band instrumentals section and received the, “Overall winners of 2008” award.  The boys are all self-taught.  This is an experience not to miss out on.  Perhaps you can even have the boys autographs!!

Paul Huggett (and possibly Andy Umbers) will also be performing a few tunes to satisfy the people who enjoy the acoustic/rock/folk genre.  Paul has played at a number of GordonCare events and we always enjoy his presence.  We hope you do to.

 FOOD AND DRINK:

The Kiwanis Club of Brighton are putting on a big breakfast and sausage sizzle throughout the day.  If you are feeling hungry, slip on over to the canteen and grab yourself a bacon and egg roll or a veggie burger.  If you are looking at quenching your thirst, there will be tea, juice and professionally-made coffee for you to enjoy.  All proceeds sold by the food and drink canteens go towards supporting our programs.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

If you are unable to attend the market and wish to sell some of your items, donations of clothing and toys are welcome.  These items will then be sold by a member of GordonCare and the funds received from this will be used to assist our programs.

If you wish to volunteer your time with helping to run the market, we would love to have you join our team!
